He has been a member of the National Assembly of Tanzania for the CCM since 2000, and he was Minister of Communication and Transport from 2000 to 2005. He was then appointed as Minister of State in the Vice-President's Office responsible for the Environment on January 4, 2006.[2] He was moved to the position of Minister of Water and Irrigation on February 12, 2008.[3]
